Special Sunday Service - Full-day Systemic Family Constellations with Hugo MacPherson
AWAKEN invites you to a special full-day Systemic Sunday Family Constellations session with Hugo MacPherson.
Systemic Family Constellations is a contemporary practice with ancient roots, supporting personal healing from ancestral trauma through restoring balance in family systems. At AWAKEN it is always a shared experience. This group dynamic is powerful for reconnecting us with our family story and using the new perspective to move along new paths ahead.
Exclusively at AWAKEN cafe, Hugo's workshop will provide a rare chance to pause and a space for you to explore unseen dynamics woven through your lineage - sometimes from generations back - which influence your life today.
Open to all. No previous experience needed.
Is Constellations for me?
Perhaps you’re feeling uncertain about your next step, personally or professionally. Maybe old pressures, inherited patterns, or familiar cycles feel ready to be understood rather than repeated.
Family Constellations offers a way to meet these questions with compassion and perspective. Whoever you are, you will leave with fresh clarity, insight and renewed inner alignment for yourself and the people around you.
What happens in a Constellation?
The truth is that a Constellation is an ineffable experience - it cannot be put into words. If you are curious and would like to try out, then you are invited to take that step.
When family patterns, secrets and hidden dynamics are seen and honoured, they can transform from limitations into resources and can guide you towards new possibilities, greater freedom, and a more peaceful relationship with the stories and experiences you carry for your family.
It is often surprising to first-comers how influential their family system is on their sense of self or their outlook. Long-held tensions, breakages or experiences of death and separation are powerful enough to come down through generations and have a hold on us today. We also play our part, subconsciously choosing and even nurturing these difficulties, usually out of pure love and loyalty to our families. Perhaps they don't really belong to us as they certainly didn't begin with us.
Surfacing these inherited experiences and giving them their place can allow us to take our own place in the system, in peace.
The workshop is held confidentially by me, Hugo, an experienced Constellations practitioner. No one has left one of my workshops unrewarded or empty-handed because, held right, something always shifts. You should experience something surprising, mysterious and profound.
Issue Holders & Representatives - what are they?
At each Family Constellation session there is an Issue Holder and Representatives.
If you are ready to change something in your life, you may consider being an Issue Holder or Seeker. In a short interview in front of the group, you explore with me what blocks, entanglements and loyalties might be resisting the change you seek. Once some facts are established with the Constellator, you select members of the group, inviting them to represent elements of your family system. These are your Representatives and interacting with each other and guided by the Constellator, a new image emerges providing new information and insight for you into the dynamics at play in your system. With this done, you are invited to look again at yourself, your choices, your family and your environment today. Towards the change you seek, what movement is possible now?
For those of you chosen to be Representatives, you are supporting the Issue Holder to see and hear things afresh, reporting back on your somatic/felt experience in the role you are invited into. Representing a relative, for example, you will find where feels comfortable in the room depending on the other representatives. In role, you will see or experience information including words, images, feelings and intuitions. relationship to others in the representation. It is a mystery how this happens and it can be powerful. Speaking to your experience in role when prompted, you become a resource for the Issue Holder, offering him or her an extraordinary quality of insight for clarifying their issue and making way for them to choose a new step on a different path.
Everyone can represent - and there is no right or wrong way to do it in this safe and confidential space. The more open you are to the experience, the more helpful you will be. There are gifts of insight for everyone taking part - you will also receive.
We always hold each other and the process in confidence and with respect.
We will attempt to complete 4-5 constellations on the day. Please notify Hugo beforehand if you have questions about being or are interested to be an Issue Holder.
In time,
Hugo
Constellation FAQs
It’s not about stars, it’s about systems
Just as the new year invites us to see our lives from a wider lens, the Constellations practice helps us step back and view the larger family system — allowing hidden connections and long-standing influences to come into awareness.
It’s a shared journey
Constellations is an experiential therapeutic group practice. Together, we witness stories that may span generations, often bringing fresh meaning, insight, and a renewed sense of belonging to us today.
It is never a performance
There is no acting involved. Representatives simply tune into a place within your family system, offering reflections that illuminate the dynamics at play always allowing you to decide what resonates and how to move forward.
It is sometimes tender, always respectful
This work can be moving, and at times confronting, as strangers embody aspects of your family with surprising clarity. You are free to take what supports you and gently leave the rest. What arises is a gift that belongs to you alone.
It is held in a confidential space
Everything shared is held with care, integrity, and strict confidentiality creating a sense of safety, trust, and collective respect.
No preparation needed
While information exists online, you’re encouraged to arrive with openness rather than expectation. This work unfolds most naturally when we allow ourselves to see with fresh eyes.
It is a mysterious, ineffable experience
Family Constellations is difficult to explain and best understood through direct experience. As Bert Hellinger, founder of the modern Constellations approach, once said:
“Don’t ask me why it works, I just know that it does.”
