The focus of the panel discussion will center around the challenges of stewarding forests and natural resources in urban settings, even those in progressive cities like ours. What are the inherent dynamics between urban order and natural growth? What are our challenges and failures and what does that mean in terms of progress and positive impact? How does art help tell these stories and/or address these issues? What can individuals do to support these organizations and their endeavors?
Join Terrain artists Daniela Naomi Molnar, Jocelyn Rice, Intisar & Midnite Abioto, along with David Heberg from Outdoor History Consulting, Zachary Peal from the Forest Park Conservancy, moderated by Jason Brown from the Portland Parks Foundation, to hear about potential solutions and ideas in response to these questions and learn ways in which we can support these endeavors.
Terrain is grateful for the creative partnership with the Portland Parks Foundation and the Forest Park Conservancy.

About TERRAIN
Terrain is a community driven environmentally centered art oasis bringing wild nature through artistic responses to the surrounding landscape and its history. At its core, Terrain provides supported opportunities for artists to create new, unique works, cultivating the expansion of creative thinking and making. The goal is to foster greater environmental awareness both in the artists themselves and our audiences. Terrain artists were prompted by the dynamic history of what lies around and beneath Building 5. This site used to be home of Guild’s Lake and wetlands up to the bank of the Willamette River, and where Terrain is taking place. For tickets and more information please click HERE. About the Portland Parks Foundation
The Portland Parks Foundation mobilizes support to improve Portland’s system of parks, natural areas, and public spaces. We collaborate with individuals, community groups, organizations, and institutions to develop long-term, sustainable improvements to the livability and beauty of our city. We work to create the broadest possible access to recreation, creativity, education, and play in our parks and open spaces.
About the Forest Park Conservancy
Forest Park Conservancy's mission is focused on protecting Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park's ecological health while encouraging responsible recreation and access. We believe these values are not only consistent, they are interdependent: the more people visit these parks and experience just how special a place they are, the more the public will support and value it. And the more people value these unique urban forests, the brighter their future will be. That's why our stewardship staff, seasonal technicians, and 2,000+ volunteers spend many hours in the field every year.
