Contracting for Polyamory; Ethically Going From Mono to Poly with Clients
Fri Feb 21, 2025 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Fish Lake Pavillion, 55311
Description
Have you ever wondered how to help clients open up their relationship? Or do you work with non-monogamous clients and notice feeling drained in the process of endless shifts in a relationships’ agreements, boundary enforcement, and can't shake the feel like they keep looking to you to be the judge, jury, and mediator? Your facilitators for the day GET IT. That’s why they put together a 6 CEU event for BOSW, BBHT, and BMFT (with 1 Cultural Competency and 1 Ethics), where you'll get less “boring lecture” and more “get your hands dirty” learning.
At the end of our six hours together (plus an hour for lunch), you will confidently:
- Know the relevant language in talking about traditional and non-traditional relationships.
- Know and be able to differentiate different types of non-traditional, non-monogamous practices.
- Know the ethics of working with plural and expansive relationships, and the differences between licensures.
- Know the culturally relevant and responsive practices to be able to work ethically with this population.
- Understand what the therapist’s job is in helping clients to open up as well as enforce boundaries.
- Understand the evolution of research and ethical practice as it relates to non-monogamy, as well as current trends in the literature.
- Learn tools to be able to deploy directly with clients.
- Be able to help clients develop their agreements, what it is to enforce agreements, and help them to revise and edit those policies over time.
- Be able to apply your learning and tools directly with clients and cases
- BE ABLE TO WORK WITH RELATIONSHIPS OPENING UP IN MORE SUSTAINABLE, PROCESS VS. CONTENT ORIENTED WAYS.
You will also get tasty snacks, access to the training slides, to network within community, and support with all your bonus questions.
