Gather & Grow Tour: The Good Life Center

Join us for a tour of the Forest Farm homestead, the historic project of Helen and Scott Nearing, now preserved by The Good Life Center! In this year's Gather & Grow series, garden tour hosts will share information about their gardening practices in general, and through the lens of climate change adaptation.

Unique to this tour in the series: we will begin with a tour, as usual. Following the tour, participants are invited to join for a short documentary about The Good Life Center, as well as a picnic lunch and discussion by the water. BYO lunch!

About the homestead:

The Good Life Center at Forest Farm homestead was the homestead project of Helen and Scott Nearing, who moved to the land in the 1930's. It is now recognized on the National Register of Historic Places. Tended by stewards, the homestead is still home to an historic stone-walled organic garden, complete with compost heaps and a glass greenhouse. It also features the stone farmhouse in which the Nearings lived, which they built by hand. 

Registration info: Tours in the Gather & Grow Series are kept free, with support from participant donations; and this year, with support from the Davis Conservation Foundation. Pre-registration is required, as space is limited. Tour details will be shared via email ahead of the event date.
