The 20th century saw a rebirth of choral music among British and Anglo-Irish composers. Replacing the grand oratorios of the previous generation, intricate part-songs and ethereal anthems evoked the spirit of the Tudor age, while folk influences connected with rural traditions both nostalgic and vigorously alive.
