Join us for an unforgettable journey through the skies at From Sun to Stars: Observing at Thames Chase! This special collaborative event between Havering Astronomical Society and Thames Chase Trust invites you to experience the magic of the universe from afternoon to night at the beautiful Thames Chase Forest Centre.

Starting at 13:30, step inside our immersive inflatable planetarium and enjoy one of the captivating shows from Starlight STEM (£5 per person, £3 for under 3 years)

You’ll also have the chance to take part in a variety of fun, space-themed crafts and hands-on activities throughout the day. These engaging activities are a perfect way to continue the adventure, letting you explore creativity while learning more about the wonders of space in an enjoyable and relaxed setting.

At around 18:00, the Havering Astronomical Society will guide you through a rare and fascinating partial solar eclipse—an incredible sight you won’t want to miss!

The Forest Centre Tearoom will be serving a delicious BBQ from 18:00 to 20:00 (at an additional cost) alongside fun, star-themed food and snacks and drinks available to purchase—perfect for a relaxed evening with family and friends.

As darkness falls, our telescopes will turn to the night sky for an evening of stargazing, featuring the spectacular Perseid meteor shower. Watch shooting stars streak across the sky and discover the wonders of the cosmos.

Families are warmly welcome, so bring everyone along for this inspiring and educational experience. Feel free to bring camping chairs, picnic blankets, and anything else you need to stay comfortable.

Come for the Sun, explore the planetarium, stay for the Stars—and make memories that are truly out of this world!
