VENUE:
We are now running the sessions in the middle of Thamesmead at Jubilee Hall. It's a lovely parquet floored space with tall windows overlooking walled garden and patio. It has it's own kitchen too and a serving hatch. I do love a serving hatch. (nb: October 14th, 21st and 28th are MONDAYS and at LakesIde UPSTAIRS)
How to get here?
BUSES
from Abbey Wood to LINTON MEAD PRIMARY 472, 229. This has a shorter walk but a more circuitous bus route. From the bus stop go under the portal under the flats to the path. You should see the brick building.
from Abbey Wood to CARLYLE ROAD bus stop: 472, 244, 301, Carry on along Carlyle Road, following it until you get to a portico under the flats that will take you to the other side of the flats, along Lytton Strachey Path. You should see the brown brick building with its metal gate with JUBILEE HALL on it.
CAR
There is free parking in the residential areas. Park as close as you can to the SE28 8DU postcode. It will take you to a modern brick church. Jubilee Hall is up Lytton Strachey Path past the church. You can also park on ATTLEE ROAD and go through the portico under the flats to Lytton Strachey Path.
Nonetheless, doors open at 6.30 for a 7pm start. I will be inside setting up/drinking tea. Please book to get my mobile phone number (and to know how many people are coming). Models are booked for 2 hours so please make sure you get here early to start promptly. Drawing starts on the dot at 7 and finishes at 9pm with a 15 minute tea/coffee/biscuit break after the first hour. We’ve got a few minutes of sharing of artworks - it’s always interesting to see other people’s version of the same model and take photos of the artwork created. The sharings are never compulsory, but often, I’ve found that the few that didn’t want to share initially, found something of their work to show, even just me, and that is a privilege.
Materials:
Please bring our preferred drawing materials and sketchbooks. There is good quality drawing paper for sale if you run out, and a limited amount of drawing boards to borrow for the session.
The timings are roughly as follows:
2 minute continuous movement
10 second poses (for 2 minutes)
3 x 2 minutes
3 x 5 minutes
7 minutes
10 minutes
15 minute break
5 minute warm up
Whatever we've got left of the hour until 9pm
These events at Jubilee Hall are fully supported by Thamesmead Now and Peabody
