Lifedrawing with Jonathan Thamesmead Social Cafe
Join us for 2 hours of guided life drawing at Lakeside Studios, Thamesmead.
These are relaxed sessions for adult artists and beginners alike. There may be some artistic prompts which you can choose to challenge yourself with or simply concentrate on the poses in front of you.
This week we have the Thamesmead Début of Jonathan. He's a dancer and fitness trainer so I'm sure he'll put us through our paces! He's a relative newcomer to the lifemodelling scene but his work is always fresh and exciting. Book now
The cafe is also air-conditioned so we're assured of comfort.
You're also welcome to share your drawings at the end of the session, but also you can choose not to. There's no pressure.

By bus
From Abbey Wood Station, take any bus to Southmere Lake stop (229, 244, 301). Cross over to the other side and look down Nest Way until you reach the lake. Turn left and follow the path round to the Lakeside Centre. The orange gate will be open and head inside.
On foot (20 minutes)
From Abbey Wood Station, exit and turn left towards Sainsbury's. Cross over at the lights and carry on walking over the 2 roundabouts. When you get to the Coop corner shop, walk around it up Wagtail Walk, in between the new builds. Carry on over the far end of Cygnet Square to the lake and turn left. Walk along the lakeside path until you reach the Lakeside Studios Centre with its orange trim. The gate will be open.
Nonetheless, doors open at 6.30 for a 7pm start. I will be inside setting up/drinking tea. Please book to get my mobile phone number (and to know how many people are coming). Models are booked for 2 hours so please make sure you get here early to start promptly. Drawing starts on the dot at 7 and finishes at 9pm with a 15 minute tea/coffee/biscuit break after the first hour. We’ve got a few minutes of sharing of artworks - it’s always interesting to see other people’s version of the same model and take photos of the artwork created. The sharings are never compulsory, but often, I’ve found that the few that didn’t want to share initially, found something of their work to show, even just me, and that is a privilege.
Materials:
Please bring our preferred drawing materials and sketchbooks. There is good quality drawing paper for sale if you run out, and a limited amount of drawing boards to borrow for the session.
