A Clockwork Orange (1971) by Stanley Kubrick

Alex, a psychopathic delinquent, is imprisoned for murder and rape. In order to reduce his sentence, he volunteers for an experimental therapy conducted by the government, but it goes askew.

This year’s summer programmes features films shot in and around Thamesmead, 

which explore Coming of Age stories in Working Class Britain. 

Three evening film screening programmes at the Lakeside Centre will include:

A Clockwork Orange (1971) by Stanley Kubrick/ 3 September 2022

The Thamesmead Travelling Cinema is currently based at the Lakeside Centre, SE2 9AN. The Thamesmead Texas bar is open from 7:30pm, serving cool drinks and hot dogs. Come early to reserve your seat! Our screening events are unique experiences, each one like none other. We create this atmosphere through close working relationship with each artist/ filmmaker, tapping into their first-hand knowledge of their respective culture, through exploration of cinema, cuisine and music. Thamesmead Travelling Cinema is a volunteer led community Cinema serving Thamesmead and beyond.

LOCATION/ DIRECTIONS:

The Thamesmead Travelling Cinema is currently based at the Lakeside Centre, 2 Bazalgette Way, Thamesmead, SE2 9AN. The Lakeside Centre is a gated building, which can be accessed from the street located between The Link and the lakeside public parking lot.

Thamesmead can be accessed via Abbey Wood train station - is two stops East of Woolwich and 30 minutes East of London Bridge. Get the Elizabeth Line and arrive to Zone 4 in no time! Walking distance from Abbey Wood train station to Lakeside Centre is 15 minutes. If driving, parking is available for free. Closest bus stop: Newacres Library, bus route 177, 301, 401. Please ensure you factor travel/ walk time into your journey planning.

ACCESS:

We are wheelchair and scooter friendly, with appropriate access to parking and toilets.

COMMUNITY CINEMA:

Buying a ticket supports The Thamesmead Travelling Cinema present affordable film programming and support local entrepreneurs. The Thamesmead Texas Travelling Cinema is a 25-seater mobile outdoor community cinema made from reused materials, built in partnership with local craftsman Alex J Tuckwood.
