This year "The Players" are to stage The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in St Michael's Church, Blewbury. The play is adapted from the classic story by C S Lewis and will be directed by Jo Laugharne and designed by Katie-Jane Whitlock and Loraine Fergusson.
St Michael's is a particularly appropriate setting for this tale about the struggle of good over evil; Aslan, the lion, resurrected to vanquish the White Witch and thaw the frozen land of Narnia in time for Christmas. Our design and construction teams are even now planning the transformation of the church into the magical land on the other side of the wardrobe and the construction of a lion as memorable as War Horse. Meanwhile our inventive and enthusiastic cast are developing their characters as beavers, leopards, wolves, satyrs, dryads, naiads and hags.
