The Adobros - Filipino Sunday Roast in Peckham
Welcome sa kusina ko!
For one Sunday only, I am bringing the taste of the Philippines I grew up with to Peckham, and combining it with that great culinary institution we all love and cherish - the Sunday Roast!
Taking the format of your standard roast lunch - roasted meat, gravy, vegetables, roasties and Yorkshire puddings - and applying Filipino flavours and techniques, I want to showcase some of the marvellous and fantastically delicious ways in which my English-Filipino heritage has expressed itself over the years. And it just so happens that April is Filipino Food Month as well!
So what can you expect? Quite simply, your choice of roasted versions of Filipino dishes, like Beef Kare Kare, Lamb Kaldereta and Lechon Belly, paired up with a medley of English-Filipino vegetable dishes like Laing, Nilatik Kalabasa Mash, Adobo-Roasted Potatoes and Yorkshire Puddings. Bookended by Lumpiang Gulay (vegetable spring rolls) and the Mango Cake that has been wowing diners for years, it promises to be quite the feast!
Hosted by the good folk at Peckham Cellars, who bring an exceptionally strong wine and beer game, it's bound to be a brilliant way to pass a Sunday.
Good food, good drinks, good crowd? Tara na, come let's join us!
