Description:

Our Autism AIM service is celebrating its’ 10th birthday this year and we want to celebrate with you. At this special event, we will be:

  • Hearing from some of the people who have been involved with their work, including staff members, volunteers, funders and partners
  • Showcasing examples of some of the team’s successes
  • Providing networking opportunities with AIM and Advonet Group staff, as well as commissioners, funders and people from partner organisations

Please note that you do not need to attend for the full three hours.

Speeches will take place from 4pm-5pm. After that, there will be time for networking and food.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the event, including a light buffet and hot and cold drinks. 

Schedule

There is a full schedule of what is happening on the day, including slots for guest speakers below:

  • 4pm-4:15pm: Arrival and registration
  • 4:15-4:20pm: Opening remarks and housekeeping – Angela Ellis, The Advonet Group’s Chief Executive
  • 4:20-4:30pm: Brief history of Autism AIM’s journey over the past 10 years - Wendy Cork, The Advonet Group’s Development Director and founder of Autism AIM
  • 4:30-4:40pm: Our Vision and the future – Owen Walker, Autism AIM Senior Manager
  • 4:40-5:10pm: 30-minute break for refreshments, food and networking
  • 5:10-5:40pm: Guest Speakers - Sharing partnership stories and successes - Stacey Leonard, Bradford Council; Dr Conor Davidson, Leeds Autism Diagnostic Service (LADS)
  • 5:40-6:40pm: Activities and Networking - Networking room, videos playing on-screen, showcasing our resources, showing live feedback on your thoughts about AIM
  • 6:40-7pm: Closing remarks and speeches – Peter Gruen, Chair of The Advonet Group

Attending

There is no dress code for the event. To attend, you will need to book a place via this form first. Please email us at aimenquiries@advonet.org.uk if you are having any issues with the form.

Primarily, the event is for anyone with a connection to Autism AIM, including:

  • Any autistic adults who have accessed services from Leeds Autism AIM, the Autism AIM – Mental Health Equity Project and Bradford and Craven Autism AIM
  • Anyone from organisations who have partnered with any part of the Autism AIM service
  • Anyone working with organisations who have funded AIM’s work
  • Politicians, including local MPs and councillors in Leeds, Bradford and Craven
  • Current and former Autism AIM staff and volunteers

Catering

We will be providing food and drink to visitors, including snacks, hot and cold drinks. There will be vegan and gluten-free options available for those who need them. This will be provided throughout the event, including for anyone who is coming in later on. 

In addition to that, HEART’s café will be open during the event, selling refreshments of their own.

Accessibility

HEART has step-free access to the building via wheelchair ramps. There are also accessible toilets within the building. On the day, we will have a separate quiet room in the building for anyone who needs to access it.

Getting there

HEART is located within a short walking distance of bus stops, served by routes going into and out of Leeds City Centre. They are on Otley Road and North Lane, going in either direction.

Please note that there is limited parking at HEART, but there is a nearby car park at the Headingley Taps pub, as well as parking at the Arndale Centre on Otley Road and a smaller car park at the junction of St Ann's Road and Otley Road. If parking at the Headingley Taps, please note that you can only pay for additional parking hours there by using either the paybyphone or RingGo apps. Please download one of these before you travel if parking there. paybyphone works on Apple devices, whilst RingGo can be used either on Apple or Android smartphones.
