Wine Tasting Fundraiser

Thu 25 Sep 2025 7:00 PM - 10:30 PM The AHOY Centre, SE8 3JY

Join us for a fun and informative night exploring wines from Central Europe while raising vital funds for The AHOY Centre charity.

Wine expert Dinah Longden will lead you through a tasting of 5 wines from the countries of Central Europe. There'll be a wine-related raffle, auction, a team quiz and each team will be served a platter of food to cleanse the palate between wines.

Grab your friends or family to make up a team of 4 or 5. If there's one or two of you, come along and we'll create a team!  Tickets are £30 each, including welcome drink; tasting wines; shared food platter. (Tickets are sold per team, get in touch if you can't find the ticket you need).

The AHOY Centre is a charity changing the lives of young people through sailing, rowing and other water-based activities. For young people in south London, their experience at The AHOY Centre changes their outlook, builds confidence and brings life-changing opportunities.

The AHOY Centre needs your support now, more than ever. Come along for a fun evening, tasting wine. Leave knowing you have made a difference to the lives of young people at The AHOY Centre charity.

This fundraising event is organised by the Purple Cutter Partnership, founded in 2015 and this year celebrating 10 years of rowing in their cutter Emmeline, based at The AHOY Centre.

About Dinah...

Dinah Longden is a freelance wine writer with a particular interest in the wines of Burgundy as well as being a strong advocate for the UK winemaking industry. She is a guest contributor to Jancis Robinson.com, Decanter Magazine and writes about English vineyards for WineGB.

Dinah holds a BA (Hons) in International Wine Business, has undertaken the Wine Scholar Guild Burgundy Masters programme and holds the Wines and Spirits Educational Trust (WSET) Advanced level qualification.

Dinah is interested in wines from lesser-known areas and is drawn to the emerging countries wines of Central Europe and the Balkans. Dinah says, ‘I am always keen to try indigenous varieties that show an expression of terroir. The different methods of production and resulting wine styles can be fascinating. In some cases, international varieties - Pinot Noir in particular - are more price-friendly, due to a much lower cost of production in Central Europe than its homeland of Burgundy.’
