A local Carpinterian, devoted father, and PhD candidate in Sociocultural Anthropology at UC Santa Barbara, Jonathan brings a deep commitment to Native American culture, sovereignty, and decolonizing research. His impressive background includes fellowships with NOAA and the National Science Foundation, and he currently serves as a NAGPRA Officer at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. Despite a packed schedule, Jonathan is thrilled to join us; and yes, he’s bringing his ukulele! With ancestral roots in both the Barbareño and Ventureño Chumash lineages, she brings deep historical knowledge and personal passion to every conversation. Eleanor has also served as Secretary for the Barbareño/Ventureño Band of Mission Indians, and her work continues to shape dialogue across the Central Coast and beyond. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from a respected leader who’s helping keep Chumash culture vibrant and visible in the present day.
