Zikr dance of the 'Lords Prayer' of Yeshua ~ once a month at The Angel Hall ~ with Senge (Daren Messenger)
Zikr is a Sufi practice of remembrance and we will chant in Aramaic, the language of Jesus (or Yeshua). We will use our voices and simple body/dance movements to enter into the inner meaning of the words of this prayer.
No special skills or beliefs are required. You don't need to be a singer: you can chant on one note if you like. All that’s needed is an open heart and willingness to enter into the experience of the prayer which has some different meanings in its original language…. Did you know that instead of 'Kingdom’ (as in Kingdom come), a truer translation would be ‘Queendom’, as the word in Aramaic 'Malkutah' is feminine gendered? So what might that mean? We will unravel some of the words a little further but mostly through singing and dancing rather than conversation. This process is called Tawid in Sufism and was called Midrash in the 1st century.
Come along to enjoy the celebratory music and dance experience of prayer the way that the Sufi's do it. Please arrive from 7.00 pm, doors will close just before 7.30 pm and the prayer will last for about 2 hours.
Senge is a direct student of the Sufi teacher and Aramaic scholar Neil Douglas-Klotz. Senge has been sharing Zikr and Aramaic teachings (under his birth name Daren Sarmad Messenger) for over 25 years. This is accompanied by guitar, as well as other musicians to enrich the experience.
