Meet the Arts Council: Removing racism from the arts
Findings of recent reports like Open Up from the Arts Council and Amplify from Safe to Create have shown that ethnically diverse artists and arts workers are experiencing discrimination, exclusion, and other harmful behaviours and challenging conditions in Ireland’s arts and creative sector.
March marks Anti-Racism Month, so on Monday the 24th of March, the Arts Council will be hosting an event to discuss and explore solutions to removing racism from the arts.
What can I expect at the event?
The event will begin with 'Meet the Arts Council' panel discussions, where we discuss approaches to bridging the gap between the Arts Council and artists from minoritised communities.
We will then hold panel discussions with Arts Council staff, key figures in the arts sector and artists, focused on how we can eliminate racism in the arts sector.
The day will conclude with a forum-style discussion where artists and arts workers can share their thoughts on how we can remove racism from the arts in Ireland.
The Arts Council hopes that these discussions will guide and inform future actions.
