Vocalise! group singalong with The Bach Choir at Southwark Cathedral

On 9 & 23 June and 7 & 21 July, The Bach Choir’s singers will be at Southwark Cathedral to sing with people from the local community who are living with dementia. If someone you know is living with dementia and loves music, keep reading as this opportunity is open to all - it’s free of charge for all attendees, and everyone is welcome including family, friends and carers.

The Bach Choir are London's leading independent choir - they have performed at some of the world’s top venues, on Hollywood film soundtracks like Gladiator II and even with the Rolling Stones. Their Vocalise! Community engagement scheme is one of their proudest achievements - within it, they share the joy of singing with members of their local community.

Singing is an especially effective way of improving mental health, and it’s well documented that it can help those who are living with dementia to reconnect with precious memories which they otherwise might struggle to access. In these informal, relaxed sessions, the Choir will be singing a wide range of works from the worlds of pop, rock, musical theatre and choral music - all of the music is designed to resonate with as many people as possible, so you’re bound to know some of the songs!

It’s easy to sign up - to do so, click 'select tickets' and claim your tickets today. They’re completely free, but please only book if you know that you can make it. There will be around 8-10 choir members there, and a maximum of 40 guests in total. The sessions last for one hour, after which there’ll be another half hour for the choir and participants to chat over a tea or coffee and some biscuits. We look forward to seeing you there!
