Join Living Lesbian Archive and The Bakery Atlanta for an evening of conversation and generational exchange with local Black Lesbians! This event will feature a panel reflecting on Black lesbian histories and imagining Black lesbian futures. Tickets are sliding scale $5-$10.
Panel Speakers:
- Aleo Pugh (she/they) is a Black lesbian writer whose work explores race, queerness, and narrative power through personal storytelling and cultural criticism. Trained as a historian and shaped by six years in Reproductive Justice movements, she treats writing as a deeply political practice — one that disrupts dominant histories and makes space for the vibrancy of Black lesbian life.
- Jasmin Benward (she/they) is a multidisciplinary storyteller and community organizer. They are the founder of artful collective, Create the Room and the author of debut poetry collection, Crying in LA: Sapphic Longing in Tongues and Tears.
- Saturn, also known as Mutha Shakura, is a Black queer cultural worker, community architect, and founder of Mutha’s House, creating liberated spaces at the intersection of healing, art, and political imagination. Rooted in ancestral memory and future-forward strategy, her work centers Black queer women and women-adjacent people as sacred, historical, and essential.
- Angela Denise Davis (she/her) is the creative director for ZAMI NOBLA (National Organization of Black Lesbians on Aging). In 2018, she founded THE ZAMI NOBLA podcast, a sound source for Black Lesbian Herstory, and currently serves as host, editor, and producer. In 2019, she started ZAMI NOBLA’s community ukulele program, UKE-IN. Her role as the creative director also includes facilitating a weekly wellness circle, Sister Harriet; coordinating the Community Archivist Project (CAP); and creating graphic design work for the organization. She is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University where she earned a B.A. in Art. She also holds a Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt University Divinity School, and a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Georgia State University.
