APPLY TO COMPETE IN THE BARISTA LEAGUE.

How does this work?
We open team applications about 2 months before each event.  You can apply anytime before the deadline at which time we will randomly select 12 teams who get to compete in the competition (see below for more details on the selection process).  You may apply for more than one event, but you may only compete in one competition per calendar year.

What am I signing up for?
Each team is comprised of two baristas.  You must have a team mate to compete.  You will be required to be available from early afternoon on the day of competition through to the end of the night (usually until around 10:30pm). It can be a long day and we would like you to enjoy the event, thus we recommend you to not work open shift on that day.

During the day we will have a team briefing followed by a few hours of training. This is your chance to dial in your drinks, meet the teams and learn how to use the equipment you will compete on.  The competition starts around 6pm and runs for approximately 3.5 hours.

How much does it cost?
Nothing.  You are responsible for any travel and accommodation costs associated with competing, but we try and make it totally free for you to compete.

What do I need to bring?
Nothing. Just a good attitude and your teammate.  Some of our teams come in matching outfits (we love that), but you can just show up as you would to a shift and come have fun.

I can't see my event as a ticket type?
Team application will become available only during specific period.  For specific team application period for each event, please visit our website.

NOTES ON THE SELECTION PROCESS:
All prospective teams will receive one ballot into the application pool which will be drawn from, at random, in order to select the 12 competing teams. If any team member self-identifies as part of a systemically marginalized community, that team will receive one extra ballot in the pool, doubling their chances in the draw. We believe this is a more equitable way to select competitors and hope that these changes will result in more baristas belonging to systemically marginalized communities having the opportunity to participate.
