BBN Summer Hike | Hathersage

The Better Business Network (BBN) are running a Summer Freshwalks Hike! Come down, meet some purpose-driven businesses and spend a day in the great outdoors with us and our friends at Freshwalks! 

Welcome to Freshwalks. This is a special collaboration event where everyone is welcome to join us for a day of hiking and networking in the great outdoors. Feel free to come alone - most Freshwalkers do - and you'll be warmly welcomed or invite a colleague or client along for company.

Route description

We’re heading to Hathersage, a busy village at the eastern end of the Hope Valley with a rich industrial and literary heritage.

Our route involves some limited uphill morning walking heading up to the lofty perspective of Higger Tor, passing Burbage Bridge before dropping back down the ancient woodland of Padley Gorge, where we'll stop for a picnic lunch.

Subject to progress we hope to stop for refreshments at the beer garden of The Maynard in Grindleford. Thereafter, it’s a relaxing riverside ramble back to Hathersage where we’ll head to one of the village pubs to finish the day.

10:00 - Walk starts
12:00 - Picnic stop, Padley Gorge (please bring your own)
13:00 - Refreshments stop, Grindleford (subject to progress)

Travel

Public transport: There are regular trains from Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly to Hathersage, with the meeting location only a short 5 walk from the station. 

We try to minimise carbon emissions and highly encourage guests to arrive by public transport. If you must drive, you can park in 
Oddfellows Road car park - opposite the swimming pool - where it will cost £6 for an all-day stay.

Toilets: Public toilets in Hathersage a few mins walk from our meeting location.
