The Big Movement Social: International Day of Happiness

The monthly social events will incorporate a mixture of talks, live music, performance and wellbeing activities which will support the recruitment of new members whilst also bringing together those already committed to the project.

To mark International Day of Happiness, our March social welcomes local spoken word performers to share poems and stories to make you laugh, smile and happy with an opportunity for attendees to share their own creative writing on happiness, too! The evening will also be an opportunity to meet with other men from across The Solent and to hear more about The Big Movement.

Who is it for?

Men* who fancy getting together on the international day of happiness. Also, for anyone interested in hearing more about The Big Movement.

*When we refer to men, we are inclusive of all gender identities, presentations, experiences and expressions of being a man.

What to wear and bring?

No need to wear or bring anything special, just come as you!

• 🚗 By Car:
  • 👉 Closest car parks are: Civic Centre and Marlands, with limited street parking located on London Road (5 min walk away) and Blue Badge spaces behind the venue on Park Walk

• 🚌 By Public transport:
  • 👉 Mettricks is a 5-minute walk from the city centre, Above Bar Street and Commercial Road bus stops which all have local services run by First Group and Bluestar. Uni-link also provide university bus services that anyone can use in and out of the city centre.Southampton Coach Station is a 15 minute walk away.
  • 👉🏽Southampton Central train station has direct lines to Bristol, Weymouth, Bournemouth, Salisbury, Brighton, London Waterloo. There are many other major routes, along with local services including Southampton Airport. The station is a 10-minute walk from when exiting from Platform  1.

• 🚲 By Bike:
  • There are bike racks located in Guildhall Square, as well as Voi scooters.
