OVERGROUND: CLUB 2K III

"Club2k is back at the Bongo for the first time since January’s sold out launch party was intended simply as a one-off experiment to test the waters for emerging and underrepresented genres in the Scottish nightlife scene, so huge love for the receptiveness yous have shown," say the Overgound crew.

"On 27/11, as the light recedes and the frost draws closer, we evoke the ancient festival of Brumalia to mark the onset of winter. the greco-roman ritual of welcoming the seasonal darkness with drinking, divination and deities the arcane festival of Dionysian excess and hedonistic winter decadence. coinciding with the maximalism of club2k’s post-luxury nocturne: uk underground, hood classixxx, urban folklore, sleazepop, witch house, scenecore, proto-edm retrospectives and soundcloud esoterica.

heartbreak euphoria and anthems of decay music policy: what it says on the poster, swag-era anthems, jersey drill, bling-era anthems, glistening ambient grime, proper og fidget house/indie dance/electroclash [c.r.a. indie sleaze], hardwave, the kinds of music people who are terminally online are into & tracks that you didn’t even realise could fit into a dj set artists featured in the club2k soundtrack so far range from drain gang and three six mafia to m.i.a. and death grips.

a neo-bacchanalian carousal of every scene that refused to die. the latest drops in the ug scene played alongside their influences’ influences, baile funk edits, scheme disses, forgotten electro house slammers, calvin harris nostalgia-bait, untitled chiptune mp3s from blog-era, hypertrance soundscapes layered under gangsta rap acapellas, forgotten tumblrcore microgenres. deconstructed europop, and the daftest curveballs that verge on crimes against taste this is where edm would be rn if it didn’t get gentrified."
