MORE INFO:

Headlining, SECRET STATE is better known to many as TOBIAS SCHMIDT, who released a run of killer albums and singles via esteemed techno labels such as Tresor, Disko B , Telepathic and Mosquito in the late 90s and early 00s (plus Neil Landstrumm’s Scandinavia imprint and via CPU, Varvet and Blueberry more recently).
Currently working on a slew of new releases with a nod to the legendary likes of Drexciya, Dopplereffekt, Planetary Assault Systems et al, he brings a live set of banging analogue techno and electro flavours in a classic/timeless mould. Expect some serious heat from this veteran of the Nineties techno scene.

EXTERIOR returns, having brought down the walls at the HM event at Hidden Door in June and Bongo in February and released debut album Umbilical Digital via the label in May, following his killer debut 12″ from 2019. Guaranteed to get pulses racing, as he explores tempos from 100-150pm, his music is still techno but not as you may know it. Gnarly as f*ck basically!

“If Steve Albini was forced at gunpoint to make an electronic album it would sound like this, like AFX meets Shellac” Steven McConnell (Benbecula Records)

LEONIDAS & HOBBES assemble once again following props for their last two EPs. Third EP Rags Of Time EP – featuring lead track Web Of Intrigue – was voted Record Of The Year (2017) by international DJs on Bill Brewster’s DJ History podcasts, while follow-up EP, Aranath, pulled in daytime and evening play on BBC6 music (Mary Anne Hobbs, Lauren Laverne’s Breakfast Show w/Nemone & Gideon Coe) and more praise, in 2021. Among a slew of other DJ & critical plaudits, the pair has had enthusiastic features from Bandcamp, Electronic Sound, Ban Ban Ton Ton, DJ, Mixmag and Les Yeux Orange for an analogue production aesthetic that embraces classic techno, electro, house, disco, ambient, dub and more.
However, DJ-wise, you can expect them to get deep, down and dirty with a hard and fast set, which will match the tempo and style of the two live acts on the bill and maintain the pressure in the main room (before potentially releasing some of it towards the end). If you caught their set at Hidden Door in June or Bongo in February (or Hobbes’ solo set at Summerhall in August), you’ll know roughly what to expect: classics and obscure bangers blended with upfront selections, including some unreleased gems and old favourites from their own studio sessions (with an upcoming debut album now due in ’23).

ROOM 2:
ME AND THE DEVIL sees Greek duo Lysimachos & Vangelis bring the all-encompassing, party-starting flavours of their legendary house parties to the Bongo, incorporating soul, funk, italo, disco, afrobeat, and various (new/cold/synth) wave flavours.
LEONIDAS brings a second set for the upstairs space, exploring the more eclectic edges of his record bag in a well-practised style that doffs a cap to the likes of Mancuso, Levan et al, while embracing contemporary global sounds.
