Robert Macfarlane (with Patrick Barkham) - The World To Come
Fri 4 Oct 2024 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Mannington Hall, NR11 7BB
Description
Robert Macfarlane is a legend in the field of nature writing. His works includes Underland, Mountains of the Mind, The Old Ways and Landmarks. Along with artist Jackie Morris he produced the extraordinary children’s book The Lost Words — celebrating words of the natural world being removed from our dictionaries. It became a bestselling publishing phenomenon, beloved by people of all ages. His recent work has seen him becoming a songwriter: with the actor and musician Johnny Flynn, he tours and performs their album Lost in the Cedar Wood. Robert’s new book, also for children, is published at the time of the event. The World to Come is a lyrical story which follows a father and son who journey through every season — along the way spotting owl and otter, blackbird and silver birch — until, together, they discover a world to come.
Robert will be in conversation with fellow nature writer Patrick Barkham about his remarkable career, as well as this new book.
