A Forest School taster session
This is a one off half session taster for children aged 4-11 years in the heart of Worcester.
Bring your child off for a 2 hour forest school session in this hidden little woodland in the heart of Worcester with our trained and caring team of adults. Relax in the knowledge that your child is having a 'wild break', playing with and making new friends, learning life skills and exploring their natural world, all out in the fresh air.
You are welcome to stay with them for the all the session, part of it or none of it as your child needs (in general children end up attending regular sessions without an adult, when they are ready, and we don't rush them.)
Sessions fees: Taster sessions are a one-off, half-day session costing £11 with a discount for siblings (ask us for a code to use when you book). All subsequent sessions are booked in advance in termly blocks of about 5 or 6 weeks (with one session every fortnight).
Normal fees are £22 per 4 hour session which includes all activities, a hot/cold drink and snacks (often cooked togehter on the fire).
We have a sibling discount and some supported places available for subsequent block bookings, made possible by donations from forest school families, the local community and fundraising events. While these are limited, please do email us for details and we will share what we can. admin@thebramblewoodproject.org.uk
At Bramblewood Forest School, children play together in a wild woodland space, creating games and worlds that often reach far beyond, and offer much deeper learning than adult-led activities can offer. Our consent based self-directed approach means that children experience agency and autonomy in their time. Bramblewood adults take real care to tune in to how children are experienceing their time at Bramblewood and to value what is alive and interesting for them.
Bramblewood's high ratio of experienced adults enables us also to offer children invitations to explore new challenges according to the their own pace and curiosity. These can range from practical challenges: sawing and splitting wood, climbing in the trees, building and lighting a fire to cook on, walking along the slackline, making a tree house, whittling a whistle. To conservation skills: creating homes for small animals, planting and tending trees, doing a bird count. To creative endeavours: weaving, making and using natural dyes, creative writing, singing, sculpting with clay, etc.
Altogether at the end of a session, by the hearth, we reflect on our time at Bramblewood and make plans for our next adventures together in a fortnight's time.
