Tea & Talk

We’ve heard your feedback—you want more time to chat with us! That’s why we’re introducing Tea & Talk, a relaxed and welcoming open forum designed to bring us together. Each session will feature a themed discussion, giving you the chance to share ideas, ask questions, and connect with the BHS team in an informal setting. Grab a cuppa and join the conversation!

This session we will be joined by World Horse Welfare.

Janet is an equine vet with a background in research and education. She now works for the charity, World Horse Welfare, where she focusses primarily on welfare within equestrian sport and the public acceptance of equestrianism. She also has voluntary roles within British Eventing, Retraining of Racehorses, and the Pony Club.

Janet was the primary architect of World Horse Welfare's guide to whip use. She is keen for the guide to be developed further into versions that are of use to coaches and riders and is hoping for honest feedback on what would be most useful to you as a tool to educate riders about effective and ethical use of the whip. Questions that she hopes to cover in the meeting include:

• Is a guide that explains use of the whip in terms of learning theory of use to you?
• Does the current version of the guide support you in your role as a coach?
• If you were designing a guide to whip use, starting from scratch, what would it look like?
