Have you ever wondered where insects go over Winter? Do they all hibernate? How can adults be ready to appear as soon as the sun comes out in Spring?
There are several answers to the above questions. Many insects hibernate over Winter (for insects this is called 'diapause'), and lots of insects remain active using leaf litter for insulation and shelter! It is very common for gardens to be kept clear of the shelter that insects need over the colder months, and so the Buzz Club wants to find out whether we can create a bug hotel ('a Bug Bunker'') that effectively provides this.
This talk will be about the pilot year of the Bug Bunkers project - what we found, what worked, what didn't - and will be an introduction to Bug Bunkers 2025/2026!
This is an online webinar. If you cannot make the day of event, please still book a ticket and the recording can be sent to you.
