The Evening Unfolds at Sorry not Sorry

We’ll kick off at 6pm but we’d like to encourage you to arrive early and enjoy Sorry not Sorry's celebrated backyard garden party vibe and incredible menu. Think string lights, fire pits, a 4,000-square-foot patio that feels like a night market meets L.A. celebration. Start with a craft cocktail and something from Chef Kim Vu's California-casual menu, coal-fired grilled dishes with precision, char, and flavor without the pretense. The panel kicks off at 7pm. Stay through 9pm for continued conversation, connection, and community.

Meet the Speakers

Moderator

Emily Owen | Program Manager & U.S. Programs Lead | Halcyon

Emily Owen serves as Program Manager and U.S. Programs Lead at Halcyon, where she designs and scales accelerator programs that support high-growth social impact ventures across climate, health, and equity technology. With more than 15 years of experience as both a founder and educator, she specializes in building entrepreneurial ecosystems, developing learning experiences, and aligning cross-sector partners.

Earlier in her career, Emily founded Bibti, a transportation safety technology venture, where she led product development, user research, and early fundraising, and later served as Interim Associate Director at the Georgetown Venture Lab, supporting founder development. She holds a Master’s degree in Global Human Development from Georgetown University. Her work centers on building the programs, partnerships, and communities that help mission-driven leaders turn bold ideas into sustainable impact.

SPEAKER

Samhita R

Born and raised in rural India, Samhita learned to make the most of limitations from a young age. With the sense of urgency to prepare for climate shocks and belief in systemic solutions, Samhita started Resilience AI by leveraging lived experience and the practices of science, finance and technology after serving on the Board of SEEDS India, supporting frontline disaster response. With more than two decades of experience in enabling large-scale transformation at Honeywell, EY, Microsoft, she designed the wireframe of Resilience360, a decision system that uses AI, ML and multiple sciences in a simple and dynamic manner to prepare both government and business operators agnostic of settlement and size, for the event that is coming. Her mission is to prepare for today's emergency and tomorrow's losses with measurable impact.

SPEAKER

Michael Akampa

Born and raised in Uganda, Michael Akampa developed an early understanding of how limited access to capital constrains communities and economic growth. He later built a career across finance, venture building, and real estate, including co-founding and exiting a Nordic real estate platform that scaled to a multi-billion SEK portfolio.

He is the co-founder of Nobon, a Swedish fintech company building infrastructure for private capital formation, enabling climate and real-world asset projects to become investment-ready and connect with global investors. Through Nobon, he focuses on transforming fragmented climate financing into structured, scalable investment environments that unlock capital for high-impact projects.

By registering for or attending this event, you agree to the following:

No Pitching/Sales

We want open, inspiring, agenda-less conversations where people feel free to share. Therefore, there is to be absolutely no pitching or selling of your product or service nor fund-raising. If any attendees feel that this request hasn’t been respected, let us know and that person will not be invited back.

No Refunds

We are a unable to issue refunds for no-shows or cancelations.

Assumption of Risk

Attendance is voluntary and may involve inherent risks, including personal injury, illness, allergic reactions, property damage, or other harm. You knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks associated with attending the event.

Release and Waiver of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release and hold harmless The Carbonauts Sustainability Foundation, including its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, contractors, sponsors, partners, and affiliates, from any and all claims or liabilities arising from or related to your attendance, including claims based on negligence.

The Foundation is not responsible for any injury, illness, sickness, or health condition that may occur as a result of attending the event.

Alcohol Responsibility

Some events may serve or make alcohol available. You are solely responsible for your own alcohol consumption and for arranging safe transportation to and from the event.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Carbonauts Sustainability Foundation is not liable for any incidents, injuries, damages, or losses related to alcohol consumption.

Media Release

You grant The Carbonauts Sustainability Foundation permission to photograph, record, and use your likeness, image, or voice captured at the event for lawful purposes, including marketing, social media, website content, and promotional materials, without compensation.

Ticket Policy

All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, except where required by law. If an event is canceled or changed a refund or ticket transfer will be offered to all registered guests.

Conduct and Removal

You agree to behave in a lawful and respectful manner. The Foundation reserves the right to deny entry or remove any attendee for unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate behavior, without refund.

Event Changes

The Foundation may modify or cancel the event due to circumstances beyond its control. Liability is limited to the extent required by law.

California Civil Code Section 1542 Waiver

If you are a California resident, you expressly waive California Civil Code Section 1542, which states: “A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in their favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known, would have materially affected their settlement.” You acknowledge that you may discover future claims arising from your attendance and knowingly waive those claims.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, except where prohibited by law.
