Seeds & Sparks: Open Mic Bonfire for Sudan & Palestine

Sat 15 Nov 2025 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Morningside Park, 390 Morningside Ave, Scarborough, ON M1E 4T1

Join us for a cozy night around the bonfire to learn about fire-making, discuss food sovereignty, and share stories with each other. The fire-making workshop will be led by Firdous Hussein, founder of Muslim Nature Adventures and bushcraft enthusiast. We’ll also explore the revolutionary power of food sovereignty and reflect on its importance in stewardship and freedom from oppression.

For the open mic, we welcome stewards and creatives of all kinds to come share their pieces with the community and enjoy each other’s enriching stories, while we eat dinner and marshmallows by the fire.

Registration deadline: November 14, 2025
Who: Open to all, 18+

We require a donation of $40 to attend the bonfire (all donations directly support Sudanese and Palestinian farmers), but feel free to add more if you can afford it. (The registration form also allows you to pay via e-transfer if you would like to avoid processing fees.)

If you cannot make it, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can open up the spot for others.

About The Fundraiser

This bonfire is part of the Seeds of Solidarity funding drive for Palestinian & Sudanese farmers to support food sovereignty for communities facing genocide and resisting the colonial forces that are stealing and destroying the land and its people. All proceeds from this event will go to support the We Must Plant and Revive Gaza’s Farmland campaigns.

Revive Gaza’s Farmland campaign: Organized by the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, this project aims to rehabilitate Gaza’s agricultural sector and restore local food systems to combat famine, counter the blockade, and build food sovereignty. Contribute to help farming communities facing systematic destruction of resources and land.

We Must Plant campaign: Initiated by the Gezira and Managil Farmers Alliance and supported by the Sudanese Resistant Front and the Sudan Solidarity Collective, this campaign aims to reclaim Sudanese agricultural legacy and secure food sovereignty, an essential step in resisting the neo-colonial and imperialist forces that continue to exploit their land.

The fight for land justice is at the heart of these revolutions. Every act of Sadaqa Jariya (continuous charity) transforms into a seed of resistance and renewal—a testament to our collective determination to secure food sovereignty and build a self-determined future for Sudan and Palestine.
