The Art of Observation

What happens to a tree when it’s injured? Do sparrows know the song of the crickets below? How does the stream know where to go? What if, how, why, what’s that?

We may not know the answers, but we have so many questions. Questions are at the heart of wonder, and in this facilitated nature walk and writing workshop, we will explore what it means to observe the world around us with awe.

Come practice how to walk slow, how to write with senses that are wide open. Designed to rekindle your child-like curiosity, this workshop is free and open to all. Light refreshments are included!

About Us

The Cedar Swing came out of the desire to create anti-capitalist spaces for people to build community, restore their health and well-being through creativity, and participate in people and Earth care.

We are a community for Muslim creatives, stewards, and nature enthusiasts, aiming to provide programming that helps our community buoy the part of themselves that feels awe, hope, and possibility. This is guided by the belief that soul revival and world change can happen when we combine a meaningful connection to nature, creativity, spirituality, and each other.

Started a couple of years ago, we’ve hosted a few overnight creative camping retreats, guided nature walks and sketching & writing sessions, an open mic bonfire, and horse-riding events.
