English Songs For a Summer Evening
We are delighted to invite you to St.Mary's Summer Concert
ENGLISH SONGS FOR A SUMMER EVENING
in aid of The Chiltern Centre charity.
The Programme
The programme will feature well known English songs by composers such as Gurney, Howells and Britten, sung by mezzo soprano Harriet Kirk, and accompanied on piano by Pamela Chilvers. The second half will feature performances of so far unperformed English songs composed and written by local musician Anne Eustace. Please do come along and enjoy a glass of wine while listening to a spectacular evening of song, and show your support for a local charity.
The Performance
Harriet Kirk is a Mezzo Soprano from Berkshire and holds a Masters from Guildhall School. Harriet works with Grange Park Opera and Opera Holland Park. Opera roles include Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Tisbe (La Cenerentola), Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Dorabella (Così Fan Tutte), Siebel (Faust), Ludmilla (The Bartered Bride), Olga (Eugene Onegin), and Iolanthe (Iolanthe).
Harriet sings with Polyphony and gives regular recitals in London and Berkshire. Harriet is delighted to be performing music tonight by Anne Eustace.

Pamela Chilvers is a Composer and Pianist based in Caversham. A recording of her own compositions ‘Changing Places’ published by Mozart Edition UK is available on Amazon. She is currently working on piano compositions based on the wines of Ronchi di Cialla, Northern Italy and has already performed some of them in Tolmezzo earlier this year.
The songs you will hear this evening were written mostly for members of her family.

The Chiltern Centre

The Chiltern Centre supports young people aged between 16 and 30 who have learning disabilities, as well as physical disabilities and/or complex medical needs.
We offer a range of care services that empower young people to make friends, learn new skills, and have fun. By opening up this world of opportunity we help
young people to develop confidence, positive self-image and individual identity. At the same time we provide practical support for their parents and families along with a vital break from the pressures of caring.
The Chiltern Centre relies on the support of the local community in order to open its doors each year. Get in touch or take a look at our website to find out more about how you can help.
