Media training with the Local Storytelling Exchange for Great Big Green Week
Wed 15 May 2024 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM BST
Online, Zoom
Description
With the Great Big Green Week taking place from 8th - 16th June, you may be thinking about speaking to journalists and media outlets about your events and community activities.
Getting local and regional media coverage is a fantastic way to tell your story, boost local awareness, catch the attention of your local decision-makers, and ensure that as many people as possible in your community hear about your campaigns and activities.
That’s why we’ve teamed up with the Local Storytelling Exchange to run this session to equip you with the fundamental knowledge and tools to achieve local media hits and feel confident engaging with local media in the run up to Great Big Green Week.
The Local Storytelling Exchange works with individuals, communities, organisations and businesses across the UK working to build a future that is better for the environment and for society. They shine a spotlight on their stories, sharing them widely across local, regional, and national media, digital channels and offline events to show how everyday people are taking action and helping us swap to a better tomorrow.
This training session will cover the importance of local and regional media, guidance for engaging with the media, including interview tips, finding journalists, writing press releases, and more. There will be a chance to get into smaller groups to share your plans for Great Big Green Week so we can support you with developing your story for local media.
This is a really great opportunity to hone your media skills to platform all your brilliant community action, during Great Big Green Week and beyond, so sign up now!
