Workshop: Tell your story - how to craft an authentic, personal story
Multiple dates and times
Online, Zoom
Description
On the 12th October, thousands of people from across the UK will be uniting to send a shared message to their politicians - that citizens all over the UK care about climate change and nature, and are asking their MPs to prioritise action.
We’re inviting as many people and communities as possible across the UK, from all walks of life, to meet with their MP in their constituency on the 12th October and raise climate and nature higher up their agendas.
Whether your MP is newly elected or returning to parliament for another term, we know that being able to tell your MP why acting on climate and nature is so important to you personally is crucial. Your MP works for you, and they are often swayed by passionate pleas from their constituents. Whether you’re experienced at meeting politicians, or you’ve never engaged an MP before, The Climate Coalition (TCC) are offering training that will help you craft an authentic personal story. Drawing from the Public Narrative teachings of Professor Marshall Ganz, TCC provide guidance and training to help you to:
Identify key moments in your life that has led you to care about protecting climate and restoring nature
Effectively tell your values as stories and experiences from your life
Use your story as a tool to inspire action (including from your MP!)
NOTE: We will be running the workshop three times (dates and times below), which will be 1.5 hours long. We will also be running two optional hour long practice sessions, to give you a chance to practise sharing your story and to hear from others. Please ensure you are choosing the right session when booking your ticket.
We can't wait to see you there! The zoom link will be provided to you once you've signed up.
Closed captioning will be enabled in the zoom call. If you have any accessibility requirements, please get in touch at meg@theclimatecoalition.org
