An evening with NattyCanCook at The Clink Restaurant, HMP Brixton

This one is very special. We are so pleased and privileged to announce that the incredible Nathaniel Mortley (aka NattyCanCook) will be joining us at The Clink Restaurant, HMP Brixton, for a one-off chef night on Thursday 13 November.

Natty's story is remarkable and inspiring. A talented chef from a young age, Natty fell in with the wrong crowd in his teenage years and ended up serving 2 and a half years at HMP Brixton in his mid-twenties. Here, he rediscovered his love of cooking at The Clink and the rest is history. He has recently opened his first restaurant in Herne Hill, South London, called 2210, which serves pan-Caribbean food taking inspiration from his childhood.

As Natty himself puts it in this piece in the Standard:

“I’m nervous about 2210,” Mortley concedes. “It’s a big risk. It’s all my own money. But I’m so excited too. Herne Hill is a great neighbourhood. I want everyone to come, from all walks of life. It’s a restaurant for everyone. It’s elevated cooking but it’s affordable too. And it’s a big space. The potential is massive.

“You know, I really believe in my food. I can cook.”

Tickets for this special event are priced at £80 and all proceeds will go towards The Clink's mission to reduce reoffending.
