In this 2-hour group session you will have the opportunity to rifle through my collection of painted papers and choose the ones you want to work with. I will guide you through my working process and give you the tools needed to create your own pebble collage.

More than having a piece of your original artwork to take home, this workshop offers the opportunity to

  • try something new
  • have space to play
  • enjoy the process without concern for the outcome
  • be in the company of like-minded others

With a maximum of 10 places available this intimate workshop provides a safe, quiet space to be in the moment of the creative process and leave behind your cares for a while.

Lauri is a paper collage artist, mindfulness teacher, writer, and curator of Wetherby Gallery. She combines mindfulness and creativity in all she does. Her chosen media is paper collage, often combining mixed media such as painting, printing, and sewing on paper. It’s all about using paper, cut, torn or shaped to create the desired image. Her inspirations are nature and the natural world, especially pebbles, leaves, foliage, and flowers, as well as words! Her own words and others’, including Zen Buddhist master Thich Nhat Hanh. Her practice of mindfulness influences her work both in its content and colours. Her colour palette of blues, greens, purples and browns are soothing colours evoking a sense of calm and peace.

Lauri has spent her life being creative in many forms such as dressmaking, sewing and knitting and making books before settling into paper collage. This isn't what you necessarily expect if you imagine collage as cutting images out of magazines, as she begins the process by painting papers to get the colours and textures she requires.
