An Introduction to Herbalism
Step into the world of medicinal plants with The Curious Naturalist for a relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop exploring the history, science and traditional uses of herbal medicine.
Led by Dr Amy Wyatt, this hands-on session is designed for anyone who is curious about plants, natural history, folklore, foraging and the ways people have worked with herbs across time. No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to learn.
Together, we will explore how medicinal plants have been used traditionally, how plant knowledge has been passed down through observation and folklore and what modern science can tell us about herbal preparations and plant compounds. You will also be introduced to safe and ethical foraging practices, with a focus on respecting both the plants we work with and the places they grow.
During the workshop, you will learn how to identify and work with common local herbs, discover the basics of herbal preparations and make your own small herbal tincture to label and take home.
This workshop is for curious beginners, plant lovers, nature enthusiasts and anyone who wants to feel more connected to the natural world through grounded, science-informed herbal learning.
