4th Brandwood Memorial Lecture and Christmas Social: English Churches in Switzerland with James Bettley

This year's Brandwood Lecture, given in memory of our late friend and colleague Geoff Brandwood, will be given by Dr James Bettley FSA on Tuesday 15 December at the church of St Andrew-by-the-Wardrobe, London EC4. The lecture will cover the topic of English Churches in Switzerland. Dr Bettley will be known to many as the author of new editions of the Pevsner Architectural Guides to Essex (2007), Suffolk (two vols, 2015) and Hertfordshire (2019). His latest publication is English Churches in Europe: an architectural and social history (John Hudson Publishing, 2026).

The lecture will start at 6.30pm and will be followed by wine, mince pies and other seasonal treats. James’s new book will be available for sale at a specially reduced price of £70 (publication price is £90), and he will be signing copies. Ticket prices are £17.50 for members of the Ecclesiological Society and £20 for non-members (£15 for full-time students).
