Tackling In-Work Poverty through Fair Work

Thu 8 Oct 2026 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM The Business Centre, Edinburgh City Chambers, 253 High St, Edinburgh, EH1 1YJ

Challenge Poverty Week is a time to spotlight the impact of poverty and find solutions together.

The Edinburgh Fair Work Action Group wants to bring together partners from across the city to explore ways we can tackle in-work poverty as a Fair Work community.

The Edinburgh Fair Work Action Group is a collaboration of employers, public sector bodies, trade unions, social enterprises, and business organisations, all committed to the promotion of Fair Work. The group was created in 2021 in response to the Edinburgh Poverty Commission's call for urgent action to reduce low pay and insecure work in the city.

This year, the action group is developing a new action plan for the next three years. We want to include views from employers, workers and those seeking work in the city through a network of partners and experts who support these groups. The central question - how can we work together to make Edinburgh a Fair Work city for all?

The agenda for this session is as follows:

  • 10-10.30am - Welcome and presentation from the Edinburgh Fair Work Action Group
  • 10.30-11.15am - Group discussion on Fair Work in Edinburgh
  • 11.15-11.30am - Next steps from the Edinburgh Fair Work Action Group

We look forward to welcoming you to our event!
