Title: Working therapeutically with Clients experiencing disordered eating.
This interactive workshop will focus on the following areas:
- Exploration of the most prevalent symptoms in eating psychopathology, including eating disorder diagnosis with consideration of these behaviours as being on a spectrum.
- Consideration of the physical implications and medical risks associated, including risks to consider as counsellor, psychotherapist, or other health professional supporting those affected.
- A look into recommended specialised treatment available within the UK and what therapists may provide in terms of working with and supporting clients.
- Considering Debbie’s professional experience alongside knowledge from a TA and integrative perspective, suggestions for interventions working with clients.
Debbie Thomson is a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and trainee Psychotherapist at Ellesmere who has been in full time private practice since April 2023. Prior to being a therapist, Debbie worked in mental health services within the NHS and voluntary sector where she gained experience working within a specialist eating disorder service. Debbie has a passion for mental health and in particular, a keen interest in supporting clients effected by difficult relationships with food and eating disorders.
