Debbie Thomson works as a Transactional Analysis (TA) Integrative Psychotherapist in private practice and part time tutor on the level 3 counselling skills course at Ellesmere. Prior to being a therapist, Debbie worked in mental health services within the NHS and voluntary sector where she gained experience working within specialist eating disorder services. Debbie has a passion for mental health and in particular, supporting clients affected by difficult relationships with food and those diagnosed with eating disorders or disordered eating.
In this 1 day interactive and co-creative workshop, we will explore:
• humans relationship with food, how food might become a way of managing difficult emotions and the spectrum of when it becomes unhealthy.
• the most prevalent symptoms, including eating disorder and disordered eating signs and symptoms.
• the physical implications and medical risks associated. Including risks to consider as a counsellor, psychotherapist, and/or other mental health professionals supporting those affected.
• recommended specialised treatment available within the UK and what counsellors/psychotherapists/other mental health professionals may offer in terms of working with and supporting clients.
• Debbie’s professional experience, including from a TA and integrative perspective with suggested interventions for working with clients.
