The Festival School returns to Bearded Theory once again on Friday 28th May 2027.

Following the continued success of our Festival School, we remain committed to inspiring young people through our fantastic, inclusive learning environment, proving that education really does not need walls.

Bearded Theory's Festival School provides a huge itinerary of fun, educational classes that support key stage learning objectives. Previous years have featured everything from Maths (how to budget a music festival), PE classes led by Derby County FC and Mr Motivator, Design & Technology (giving students the opportunity to create their own souvenir to take home), Slime Making, English, Mindfulness, Healthy Eating, First Aid and even BSL classes.

New for 2027, we are excited to introduce new subjects, giving children even more opportunities to learn new skills, develop creativity and experience hands-on learning in a unique festival setting.

This year, we are also introducing a more structured choice model for our learners. Children will be able to select from a range of exciting activities appropriate to their age group, allowing us to create balanced timetables and ensure all participants have the best possible experience. Once timetables have been allocated, subjects and activities cannot be swapped or changed, so please ensure all choices are carefully considered at the point of booking.

Thanks to the incredible support of our volunteers and the continued growth of the Festival School, capacity has increased across all provision, allowing up to 270 children to take part in 2027. Each year our wonderful volunteers return and make every Festival School better than the last.

The timetable, lesson allocations and information for parents wishing to request authorised absence from school will be sent during the first week of April 2027.

Please note that bookings are limited to three places per email address to ensure distribution remains as fair as possible. If you have multiple children in the same household, please use two or more email addresses to make bookings. You must have parental responsibility for any child you are booking.

Important Booking Information

• If the system allows you to book more than three tickets, all bookings will be cancelled and no alternative places will be offered.
• Please book children into the correct school academic year. Bookings made in the wrong year group will be cancelled and no alternative places will be offered.
• Once timetables and activities have been allocated, we are unable to swap, change or amend subjects.
• Attendance is subject to festival admission and Festival School registration requirements being met.
