We often think of boundaries as something we need to understand intellectually: learning the right words, communicating clearly and becoming better at saying no. But what happens when your mind knows the boundary and your body still struggles to express it?
Boundaries live in the nervous system as much as they live in language. Our bodies carry the imprint of experiences in which we said yes when we wanted to say no, froze instead of speaking, prioritised somebody else’s comfort over our own, or learned that maintaining connection meant overriding ourselves.
This 3 hour workshop takes a bottom-up, somatic approach to boundaries. Rather than only talking about boundaries, we will practise experiencing them through the body. We will explore our relationship with our fire and our capacity to say no. We will become curious about the patterns that make boundaries difficult and practise asking, receiving, refusing and being refused. Through embodied practices, we begin offering the body different experiences from the patterns it may have learned over many years.
Some exercises will happen as a whole group, while others will take place in pairs or triads. This workshop is designed to bring participants into contact with their edges, so it may not always feel comfortable. The intention is not to push through those edges, but to meet them with awareness and use somatic practices to explore new possibilities for choice, agency and connection. Ultimately, this is an invitation to discover boundaries not as walls between us, but as part of what makes deeper intimacy possible.
The workshop will be led by Binta Patel. Binta is a coach and bodyworker specialising in de-armouring, Emotional Freedom Technique and inner child healing. She teaches ancestral tantra kriya yoga and vinyasa yoga and she facilitates sacred feminine spaces. Binta’s passion lies in helping people reconnect with their body's wisdom and shed layers of trauma and conditioning. Rooted in her Indian and Hindu ancestry, Binta bridges Eastern spiritual wisdom with Western therapeutic techniques and science. With a trauma-informed approach, Binta is known for creating safe spaces for emotional healing. She balances masculine and feminine energies with a presence that is both loving and gentle, yet powerful and direct.
The workshop is open to a maximum of 40 people (non-members welcome) and hosted at a beautiful space in Haggerston. No experience is necessary. This workshop will be fully clothed, and you’ll be invited to keep switching partners / mixing groups for the exercises (optional) so you can come alone, partnered or with a friend.

Feedback of Binta's workshops:
“As soon as I stepped into the space Binta created, I felt so held and welcomed and was able to drop in. Binta holds a beautiful balance of authenticity and professionalism in her sessions. Her level of presence, everything she is and everything she brings into a session allows deep healing and transformation to take place. The throat de-armouring we did released lots of emotions for me. I felt so safe that emotions were naturally flowing. It also loosened the tension around my whole jaw and throat area which were around my expression. I was so surprised how I was able to release so much."
“At first, I was sceptical and apprehensive regarding what I saw as ‘ alternative therapies’. However, I’m so glad that I embraced the opportunity to work with Binta. Through her calm, knowledgeable and intuitive approach I was gradually able to resist trying to understand everything, pull it apart to try to find out the magic secret and instead just trust in the process and reap the benefits. As a result, I have been able to release both physical and emotional tension. Sessions were delivered with compassion and integrity, enabling me to develop a deeper emotional intelligence, particularly towards nurturing and nourishing my own needs and helping me to reach out to others in a more grounded and rational way. It has been a revelation.”
