Film Screening: The Voice of Hind Rajab
Sunday 10 May, 6:30pm
On 29 January 2024, five-year-old Hind Rajab was trapped in a car under fire in Gaza, the sole survivor. Her emergency calls reached volunteers at the Palestine Red Crescent Society, who fought to coordinate a rescue against impossible odds. Academy Award-nominated director Kaouther Ben Hania blends the real recordings with dramatized reconstructions, capturing the fear, waiting and devastating silence when help does not arrive. Winner of the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival and Tunisia’s submission for the 98th Academy Awards.
The screening will be followed by a relaxed Q&A and discussion—an opportunity to share reflections and explore the film’s themes together.
Please arrive by 6:00pm if you plan to order from the bar, so we can start the film promptly and ensure it finishes in good time, with space for conversation afterwards.
We look forward to welcoming you for an engaging and thought-provoking evening at the library.
