New Parent Walking Tour
Mon 17 Mar 2025 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM GMT
The Lodge, Cemetery Park, Southern Grove, E3 4PX
Description
Are you a new parent? Join us in Cemetery Park for a baby-friendly walking tour, and a chance to spend some time in the fresh air and beauty of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park.
This walking tour is family-friendly, and perfect for getting new parents out of the house with their little ones. It’s a well-established fact that spending time in nature is good for our mental health, especially when coping with sleepless nights and the associated stress of a new baby.
In this 1 hour session, you can join Cemetery Park Manager, Ken (dad of daughters) and Admin Officer, Aneeta (mum of boys), to learn about the nature and heritage of Cemetery Park. We’ll end the session with a hot drink and biscuits in the Park Lodge. Hopefully the babies will sleep in the fresh air, and parents will have a chance for a bit of exercise and a natter in the woodland paths of the Park.
All our paths are pushchair friendly, and you can leave your pram in the Lodge if you prefer to take your baby in a sling.
Also, we’ve got a baby changing table in our accessible toilet (for those unpredictable poonamis!)
It’s FREE! Please donate if you can.

Access statement
This is an accessible and inclusive activity. The maximum number of participants is 20.
We will cover a distance of less than 1.5km. The paths are approx. 1-2m wide. The surface is crushed concrete fines, a type of hard-packed fine gravel (which doesn't turn to mud in rain). We will not be using steps on this tour but there may be areas where the path narrows and may be difficult for wheelchairs to traverse. If arranged in advance a motorised vehicle could drive onto the site. There is restriction free on-street parking on Southern Grove during the weekend.
Please contact us with at least 2 weeks’ notice if you’d like BSL or other interpretation/translation and we will do our best to facilitate. Sadly we have no interpreters or translators available in-house.
Toilets will be available in the Cemetery Park Lodge. There is a toilet that is deemed accessible. It is approx. 1.6m x 2m and there is a fixed support bar on the left of the toilet, with a movable bar on the right. There is no adult changing table or hoist.
We are able to offer baby changing facilities and we can provide a private space for breastfeeding on request.
We aim to make our events as accessible as possible and are learning constantly how to do this better. If you would like to let us know about any specific requirements or access needs that you would like us to meet, or offer feedback on our accessibility arrangements, please email contact@fothcp.org. We want you to feel safe in nature.
Refund policy: If you tell us that you want to cancel your ticket, please give a minimum of 48 hours notice before the start of the event.
