Remembrance Day Ceremony

Join the local community, elected representatives, the local TA, Scouts and youth groups to remember the military and civilian war dead of Tower Hamlets past and present. Refreshments available after the ceremony.

The Ceremony is non-religious and inclusive and will be led by a Humanist Celebrant of Humanists UK.

Free, but donations are always welcomed.

Important general info below:

Ages: Under 16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Clothing: Please remember to dress for the weather as we will be outside for the ceremony (weather dependent). Trousers are a must, layers for clothing for warmth, a hat, closed-toed shoes and a coat, if the weather calls for it. 

Meeting Point: War Memorial by The Soanes Centre (on the right as you enter via Southern Grove), Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, Southern Grove, E3 4PX.  Nearest Tube Mile End

Times: 10:30am-12pm 

Refreshments: Blue Daisy will be on site, a coffee/tea bistro caravan.

Access statement

• This is an accessible, inclusive event.

• Please contact us with at least 2 weeks’ notice if you’d like BSL or other interpretation/translation and we will do our best to accommodate. Sadly, we have no-one in house who is able to offer this service.

• A toilets will be available in the Cemetery Park Lodge. The toilet is accessible. It is approx. 1.90m x 1.60m and there is a fixed support bar on the right of the toilet, with a movable bar on the left. There is no adult changing table or hoist.

• We are able to offer baby changing facilities and we can provide a private space for breastfeeding on request.

• If you need space to pray, please let us know and we'll do our best to offer you a private space.

• We aim to make our events as accessible as possible, and we're learning constantly how to do this better. If you would like to let us know about any specific requirements or access needs that you would like us to meet, or offer feedback on our accessibility arrangements, please email contact@fothcp.org. We want you to feel safe in the Cemetery Park.
