First Thursdays is a free monthly evening of films, readings and talks about nature, place and conservation, hosted by the Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park at the Soanes Centre, inside the Cemetery Park. No cost, just good company and conversation.

On Thursday 6th August at 6pm, we are launching First Thursdays with a screening of The Peoples Emergency Briefing.

What’s happening with climate and nature, and what does it mean for everyday life in the UK?

The People’s Emergency Briefing is an eye-opening film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like:

🌧️ Extreme weather
🍞 Food security
🏥 Health
💷 Cost of living

The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.

Watch the trailer here.

After the film there will be a short open facilitated discussion about what it means for our community and what we can do together.

Seats are free but limited to 30, so please book in advance. Refreshments available.

This event is about our future and is open to everyone. We especially welcome young people (over the age of 16) because they are the generation who will feel the effects of climate change the most.  Bring a friend, neighbour or family member: everyone is welcome.
