Southern Trainees - in person visit - VITAL SEEDS - 15th September - Devon

Looking forward to seeing you all in person at our upcoming trip to Vital Seeds, Baddaford Farm, Ashburton, TQ13 7NF 

During the day we’re going to pack in as much practical information on seed harvesting, drying and cleaning as we can. We’ll have a chance to look at seed harvest on a number of crops in their field as well as a chance to try out their seed cleaning equipment and tour of their office space.

During this session:

• We’ll look at seed harvest timing for a number of crops

• We’ll learn about drying techniques, prior to threshing and to prepare for storage

• We’ll look at how to use various examples of seed cleaning equipment

• We’ll get an in-depth tour of Vital Seeds office space

Please arrive between 10.30-10.45am, ready to start at 11am.

What to Bring

• Your own lunch and snacks

• Mug for hot drinks and water bottle if needed

• As the course will be taught mainly outside, please bring waterproofs, wellies/boots and plenty of warm layers.

• Anything else you need to be comfortable and enjoy the day. Remember it will be cool, and potentially also wet!
