Scotland Trainees In-Person Processing Training @ Seeds of Scotland

Welcoming the 2026 Scottish year-long trainees to Seeds of Scotland in the Cromarty Firth for our Processing Training. 

Please note, some details may change, including slight timing tweaks.

Schedule for the day

- 10:30/10:45 arrival, hot drink, settling in 
- 11am intro and selection 'theory'
- 12pm tour of Seeds of Scotland
- 1pm lunch
- 1.45pm processing practical
- 3pm wrap up, questions, etc.

Information on getting to Seeds of Scotland

Address: Seeds of Scotland, Ardullie Farm, Dingwall IV15 9TT(note when you type this into Google maps, the farmhouse comes up which is just past the farm. You'll want to go to the farm (on your left from the A9 and I'll put a sign up - if using what.3.words ///crumbles.viewing.tingled)

By car:

From Inverness & the South:

• Take the A9 North out of Inverness and follow it across the Kessock Bridge.
• Continue north over the Cromarty Firth Bridge.
• Immediately after crossing the bridge, you will hit the Ardullie Roundabout. Take the first exit to stay on the A9 (heading towards Thurso/Wick).
• The entrance to Ardullie Farm will be on your left shortly after the roundabout.

By public transport:

Option 1: Dingwall Train Station (Best for Trains)

• How attendees get there: You can catch a ScotRail train from Inverness Station. Trains run regularly on both the Far North Line and the Kyle of Lochalsh Line, arriving at Dingwall Train Station in roughly 30 minutes. [1, 2, 3]
• Pickup Driver Route:
  1. From Ardullie Farm, head south to the Ardullie Roundabout and take the exit onto the A862 toward Dingwall.
  2. Follow the A862 straight into the town of Dingwall.
  3. Turn left onto Station Road; the station has a convenient drop-off/pick-up zone right outside the platform entrance.
  4. Drive time back to the farm: Approximately 5 to 7 minutes

Option 2: Evanton (Best for Local Buses)

• How attendees get there: You can board the Stagecoach North Scotland bus (such as the 25 or X25 routes) from Inverness Bus Station heading toward Alness/Tain. They should disembark at the main stop in the nearby village of Evanton.
• Pickup Driver Route:
  1. From the farm, head North on the A9 for a short distance.
  2. Turn left onto the B817, following signs directly into the village of Evanton.
  3. Pick up attendees at the designated village bus shelter on the main street.
  4. Drive time back to the farm: Approximately 3 to 4 minutes

Please arrive between 10:30 and 10:45am, ready to start at 11am.

We will be working both indoors and outdoors, and prioritising outdoors wherever possible.   

What to bring 

As the course will be taught mainly outside, please bring waterproofs, wellies/boots, suncream and plenty of layers. 

You might like to bring a notepad and pencil for making notes. Please bring a refillable water bottle and a keepcup/travel mug if you would like tea or coffee. Please also bring your own plate, bowl and cutlery for lunch.

Please do not bring dogs to the farm. 

Meals 

Please bring your own lunch or additional lunch bits to accompany fresh salad provided. We will provide teas, coffees and refreshments. 

Arrivals  

Please arrive between 10:30 and 10:45am, ready to start at 11am.

If arriving by car, there are a few spaces at the farm, subject to machinery needing access.
