How To Be Kind in an Unkind World
Multiple dates and times
The Good Heart, BA11 1DS
Description
In these five workshops, we’ll explore together how kindness nurtures positive qualities such as self-acceptance, clarity and confidence, and can act as an antidote to difficulties such as anxiety, confusion and loneliness. We’ll focus on the everyday difference that kindness makes to the wellbeing of ourselves and the people around us, and try out a range of practical exercises and strategies that can be immediately put to use as we go about our day.
The workshops will integrate traditional contemplative practices with scientific research. Although some of the material is taken from Buddhism, it’s suitable for people of any faith or none. Expect a mixture of simple meditation, stories, poetry, discussion, tea and biscuits.
Led by Martha Oster and Alison Murdoch. We are both volunteers and board members at The Good Heart with a particular interest in the benefits and complexities of kindness, and between us have over fifty years experience of facilitating and leading classes.
A donation of £25 (£10 concessions) is requested for the series of five evenings. If money is a barrier for you, please contact welcome@thegoodheart.uk to arrange a bursary place.
