Description
A prose play in four scenes based on the Anglo-Saxon poem of the same name, the Wanderer takes us back 1,500 years to the Europe of a bygone era.
At the cross-roads of the human and the spiritual we encounter the Wanderer. He is alone, who once was a cherished friend. His people are defeated, his lord is fallen, his home is gone. As he travels the path of exile, he encounters the fading visages of his ancient gods, who share with him in misery, glory, wisdom, and hope, as both their worlds - their feats, their battles, their victories, their tragedies, and their failures - slowly fade in the mists of memory.
Based on the poem that was a major inspiration in Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, The Wanderer takes us on a journey through the mind of a grief-stricken soul, where we find ancient truths and familiar struggles.
